Alegent Health Selects Carefx to Enhance Award-Winning Clinician and Patient Portal Strategy

Carefx Delivers Identity and Access Management with Optimized Clinician Workflow to "Most Wired" and "Most Wireless" Healthcare System

(New Orleans LA) - February 26, 2007 -- Carefx Corporation, a leading provider of open, scaleable and flexible identity and access management solutions, announced today at the HIMSS 07 Annual Conference and Exhibition its contract with Alegent Health, named one of the nation's top 25 "Most Wireless" and one of the 100 "Most Wired" health systems by Hospitals & Health Networks. Leveraging its proven business model of interoperability, Carefx will provide end-to-end identity and access management to include Fusion from Carefx™, as well as Fusion-certified Imprivata® OneSign™ and Courion® Enterprise Provisioning Suite™.

Alegent Health, with the help of Carefx, is taking its world-class approach to patient care and applying it to the adoption of information technology (IT) to not only provide physicians and clinicians with secure, reliable access to patient information and clinical applications - anywhere, anytime, but also to encourage patients to become more involved in their treatment. The initial deployment will encompass 1,200 physicians, to be followed by an enterprise deployment across nine acute care hospitals and more than 100 sites of service. Concurrently, Alegent Health will identify opportunities to provide patients with additional access to their important personal information to better understand and manage their treatment.

"Carefx's interoperability model provides the best of all worlds - one source for collaboration as we plan, deploy and manage our complex IT environment - and the benefits of the Fusion-certified portfolio of identity and access management products that meet our strict requirements for functionality, manageability, ease of use and remote access capabilities," said Troy Hottovy, operations leader of Technical Management at Alegent Health.

"As Alegent Health strives to achieve our goals as a world-class organization, it's vital that we select superior products to enhance our clinicians' workflow and patient outcomes. We are confident that Carefx has the technology and business acumen to help us attain our goals," added Ken Lawonn, SVP and chief information officer of Alegent Health.

"In alignment with Alegent Health's vision and need for scalable, flexible IT solutions, we have delivered a comprehensive, easy-to-manage identity and access management solution that includes the capabilities Alegent Health requires to evolve with its changing operational needs," said Andrew Hurd, chairman and CEO of Carefx Corporation.

Fusion interoperates seamlessly with Courion and Imprivata solutions, as well as with Alegent Health's legacy healthcare IT applications, enabling physicians to focus on patient care as opposed to struggling with disparate technology solutions. Fusion's role-based portal views provide clinicians with secure, remote access to a unified view of relevant patient data, regardless of where the data is stored. As a result, IT staff gain streamlined user management and clinicians enjoy expedient access, improved patient care and a reduction in the potential for errors.

"Courion's Enterprise Provisioning Suite will automate Alegent's role-based provisioning of applications to physicians so that they can deliver immediate access to key applications and data that will enable the most effective patient care," said Chris Zannetos, president and CEO, Courion. "By simultaneously leveraging Courion's access compliance solution, Alegent will also be able to verify users' access rights and automatically remediate any discrepancies - thereby streamlining operations and achieving greater efficiency, tighter security and improved service levels."

"Imprivata's OneSign Single Sign-On solution addresses the immediate needs of Alegent Health's clinicians and IT staff allowing strong authentication for all systems and data while making these systems easier to use for busy healthcare providers," said Omar Hussain, president and CEO of Imprivata, Inc. "The end-to-end Identity & Access management solution Alegent chose is highly innovative and makes substantial workflow and process advances. It will likely serve as a model for other forward-thinking organizations."
